Hello, whoever is reading this. I have no idea whether I will ever post to this again. Based on past performance, it seems likely that I will not. Nevertheless, let's see what happens.
First, a little (very little) about me. I am a doctor working in a major Australian Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I am a registrar, which, I guess, is something akin to a "senior resident" in the US system. To give some insight into the previous sentence for non-medical types, I graduated from Medical School about five years ago, and have a couple more years (at least) before I become a consultant or an "attending" in US terminology. This is about as fast as is possible under the rules in Australia.
It is my intention that this blog be a sort of confessional; a place where I can say what I'm really thinking about some of the frustrating/uplifting/nauseating/satisfying/horrifying/[insert adjective here] things that happen during the course of my working and (to a much lesser extent) personal lives.
I have now been awake for a bit over 27 hours, so I think I will get some sleep before posting anything else (provided that the whole idea doesn't seem ludicrous after a bit of shut-eye).
Goodnight all!
Dr Anon
